NDTL regains the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accreditation

NDTL regains the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accreditation

✅World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has restored the accreditation of the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL), which was suspended in 2019 because of its failure to comply with global standards.

✅The NDTL is based in the national capital and can resume testing with immediate effect.

● WADA Suspension

✅India is currently third in the WADA's global list of dope violators, led by Russia.

✅The suspension of the NDTL had prohibited it from carrying out any anti-doping activities, including all analysis of urine and blood samples.

✅The WADA first suspended NDTL in August 2019 for a period of six months and extended the de-recognition period after its inspections showed that non-conformities existed.

✅During the suspension period, urine samples collected by NADA were being sent primarily to the WADA-accredited lab in Doha.

✅The process had made the anti-doping programme very expensive for the country because of the significant cost involved in sending samples abroad.

✅Because of the suspension, NDTL could not carry out any testing before Tokyo Olympics in this year.

● National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL)

✅It is a premier analytical testing & research organization established as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

✅It is the only laboratory in the country responsible for human sports dope testing. It is headed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Dr. Puran Lal Sahu is the Scientific Director of NDTL.

✅It is accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories, NABL (ISO/IEC 17025:2017) for human dope testing of urine & blood samples from human sports.

✅NDTL is one of the 29 WADA accredited laboratories in the world.

✅It is one of the modern & state of the art laboratory in the country equipped with latest analytical instrumentation.

✅The NDTL in India was established in 2008 with an aim to get permanently accredited by International Olympic Committee (IOC) and World Anti Doping Agency to do the testing for the banned drugs in human sports.

● World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)

✅It is a foundation initiated by the InternationalOlympic Committee based in Canada to promote, coordinate, and monitor the fight against drugs in sports.

✅The agency's key activities include scientific research, education, development of anti-doping capacities, and monitoring of the World Anti-Doping Code, whose provisions are enforced by the UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sport.

✅The aims of the Council of Europe Anti-Doping Convention and the United States Anti-Doping Agency are also closely aligned with those of WADA.

✅The World Anti-Doping Agency is a foundation created through a collective initiative led by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

✅It was set up on 10 November 1999 in Lausanne Switzerland, as a result of what was called the ""Declaration of Lausanne"", to promote, coordinate and monitor the fight against drugs in sports.

✅Since 2002, the organization's headquarters have been located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Apple is testing a ChatGPT-like AI chatbot

According to a recent report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is making significant strides in the development of artificial intelligence tools to rival the likes of OpenAI and Google. Internally referred to as "Apple GPT," the tech giant has created a chatbot using its proprietary framework called "Ajax." This framework, built on Google Cloud with Google JAX, enables the creation of large language models similar to ChatGPT and Google's Bard. While Apple is yet to finalize its strategy for consumer release, it is reportedly planning a major AI-related announcement next year. The chatbot's internal rollout faced delays due to security concerns related to generative AI. However, it has been made available to a growing number of Apple employees with special approval, primarily for product prototyping purposes. Apple's chatbot can summarize text and answer questions based on its training data. Although it shares similarities with commercially availabl...

The discovery of Gravitational Waves.

Big Bank Theory: Understanding Financial Markets

Big Bank Theory: Understanding Financial Markets Dear aspirants, In continuation with our “Big Bank Theory” initiative, today we will discuss an important topic of Economics i.e. “ Understanding Financial Markets ”. Understanding Financial Markets Financial Market  – Let us explain first, If we talk about market it is not a particular tangible place but it’s refer to a group of entities which participate in borrowing and lending. The products can be classified as – bonds, equities, currencies and derivatives. It is a medium of channel between depositors and borrowers. Financial Market is divided into two parts: 1.   Money Market 2 .  Capital Market Money Market Money Market is a key element of the financial system. It is also known as  “Short Term Market ” because here trading is done  between 1 day to 365 days . In this market, trading is done for a small span of time so “Risk Factor” is very low as well as “returns are very less”. Short –t...

📍 DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FDI and FPI

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FDI and FPI #Stockmarket 💡 FDI is involved in setting up firms to produce goods and services. That is why it is called 'direct' institution. FPI on the other hand buys financial assets for profits. In order to remove the ambiguity that prevails on what is Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and what is Foreign Institutional Investment (FII), it was decided to follow the international practice and lay down a broad principle that, where an investor has a stake of 10 percent or less in a company, it will be treated as FII and, where an investor has a stake of more than 10 percent, it will be treated as FDI. 💡 Since the source of funds is not revealed, the PNs are potentially unsafe. Therefore, SEBI imposed certain conditions like limits on the PNs that a single FII can issue, etc. SEBI wants the PN holders to register with SEBI and invest directly as India is a long-term growth story. SEBI policy paid off with the number of FIIs registering with the regulator go...

The Discovery of Gravitational waves.

Hello Friends, Yesterday a major scientific breakthrough occurred with the discovery of Gravitational Waves . Gravitational Waves, which were the last unobserved prediction of Albert Einstein, are much celebrated  The General Theory of Relativity .  Through his General Relativity Equations, Einstein proposed the existence of these waves in the year  1916, exactly 100 years ago . Now let’s learn the  Fundamentals of Gravitational Waves . Gravitational waves are  small ripples in space-time  that are believed to travel across the universe at the speed of light. They are like tiny waves on a lake — from far away; the lake’s surface looks glassy smooth; only up very close can the details of the surface be seen. Sir Isaac Newton , renowned scientist, visualized  gravitational force as a pulling force  between objects,  Albert Einstein  opined it to be a  pushing force due to the curvature of four dimensional space-time fabr...
