A databaseis a collection of logically related data. Data means known facts, which are meaningful and can be recorded. For example, names, telephone numbers, and addresses. You can record this data in an indexed address book or on a hard disk, by using software such as Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel. Using a database for storing and accessing data provides lots of benefits over the traditional approach of storing data in the flat text files.
