The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched an electronic intelligence satellite ‘Emisat’ for the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) along with 28 third party satellites.

श्रीहरिकोटा के सतीश धवन अंतरिक्ष केंद्र से 1 अप्रैल की सुबह भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (ISRO) के प्रक्षेपण यान PSLV C-45 ने  एमिसैट सैटेलाइट (EMISAT) लॉन्च किया। इसे सूर्य समकालिक ध्रुवीय कक्षा (Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit) में स्थापित किया गया तथा इसके साथ 28 विदेशी नैनो उपग्रहों को अलग-अलग कक्षाओं में सफलतापूर्वक स्थापित किया गया।  अमेरिका के 24, लिथुआनिया के दो और स्पेन व स्विट्जरलैंड के एक-एक उपग्रह को तीन अलग-अलग कक्षाओं में स्थापित करने के लिये नई प्रौद्योगिकी का इस्तेमाल किया गया। इलेक्ट्रॉनिक इंटेलिजेंस सैटेलाइट (एमिसैट) का प्रक्षेपण DRDO के लिये किया गया है, जिसका उद्देश्य देश की सीमाओं पर इलेक्ट्रॉनिक या अन्य किसी तरह की मानवीय गतिविधियों पर नज़र रखना है। साथ ही यह सीमाओं पर तैनात दुश्मनों के राडार और सेंसर पर भी निगाह रखेगा।
